What a great day. There was so much energy and enthusiasm among everybody. The overall tone was really positive and optimistic about truly providing a solution to our broken property tax situation. There was a great turn out with bus loads of people from all over the state arriving to rally in Tallahassee. Volusia Tax Reform was instrumental in bringing everyone together. We all converged on the steps of the old capital building in Tallahassee. There was a good turnout but I am surprised there weren't more people there. There should have been tens of thousands of people there and there were maybe 500-600 people. I felt obligated as a Realtor to be there for my clients.
Governor Christ, Marco Rubio and several other key elected officials spoke to assure that they are working to try to fix our current tax situation. The speeches were very positive ensuring us that our officials are working hard to find a solution during this legislative session. Only time will tell if that will truly happen. This session is due to end in a few weeks and they are hoping to get some sort of plan in place. Can the House and Senate agree? That is the big question.
I just hope that this isn't another political rah rah pep rally to make everyone think that something is going to change. Our politicians are great at getting everyone fired up but we want to see results. I am waiting.......
